En 2005, les membres du collectif montréalais Atelier Fovea ont produit le projet photographique «Cadavre exquis». Après l'avoir exposé à Montréal, puis à Dawson City en 2008, les oeuvres individuelles ont été retournées à chacun des membres à l'exception d'Eileen Leier qui vit dans le nord de la Colombie-Britannique et qui a estimé qu'il ne valait pas la peine de débourser les coûteux frais de retour. Au lieu, les images d'Eileen ont été découpées en 17 morceaux du format d'une carte postale et ceux-ci ont distribués parmi les membres actuels et anciens Fovea, qui à leur tour, ont répondu à leurs morceaux choisis avec une nouvelle image photographique montrée ici. L'idée du projet est de rendre éventuellement à Eileen son travail, morceau par morceau, avec une copie de chaque nouvelle pièce des membres qui accompagne son fragment et là, il prendra fin.... à moins, bien sûr, qu'il se transforme en un nouveau projet.
In 2005, members of the Montréal artist collective Atelier Fovea produced a group project titled 'Exquisite Cadaver'. After exhibiting the project in Montréal in 2006 and Dawson City in 2008, the photographic works were returned to each member with the exception of Eileen Leier who lives in northern B.C. and who felt it wasn’t worth the expensive shipping costs to return it. So instead, Eileen’s images were sectioned into 17 postcard-sized pieces and distributed among current and former Fovea members, who in turn, responded to their chosen pieces with a new photographic work shown here. The idea of the project is to eventually return Eileen’s work to her, piece by piece, along with a copy of each member’s accompanying new work, and there it will end …. unless of course it metamorphoses into yet another little project.
